HONORS EASTON MAYOR SAL PANTO JR. AND CITY COUNCIL NAMED THE KARL STIRNER ARTS TRAIL THAT LINKS THE FORMER SIMON SILK MALL AND NORTH THIRD STREET PROPERTIES. STIRNER SPENT 25 YEARS AS A MENTOR AND REAL ESTATE AGENT, USHERING ASPIRING ARTISTS TO EASTON. A FORMAL CEREMONY FOR THE SCULPTURE TRAIL WAS HELD IN JUNE 2011.

HISTORY GERMAN-BORN STIRNER STARTED HIS ART CAREER AT THE AGE OF 23. KARL WAS A PROFESSIONAL DRAFTER WHO SERVED IN WORLD WAR II. KARL HELD TEACHING POSITIONS AT TYLER SCHOOL OF ART AT TEMPLE UNIVERSITY AND AT MOORE AND SWARTHMORE COLLEGES. HIS WORK WAS DISPLAYED AT THE MUSEUM PF MODERN ART.

KARL STIRNER RAISED HIS FAMILY, BUILT HIS OWN HOME, WORKED AS A BUILDER, BOUGHT - RENOVATED THE EASTON ARTS BUILDING AND NOT UNTIL 1985 DID HIS WORKSHOP ABUZZ AND HIS ACTIVITY STARTED CHURNING OUT MORE THAN 400 PIECES. HE PLANS TO PUBLISH A CATALOG OF WORKS LATTER 2011.

STYLE ART CRITICS CALL HIS ART FORMALIST, ABSTRACT AND MINIMALIST. THE MOST IMPRESSIVE FACET OF STIRNER'S SCULPTURE IS THAT HE CAN TAKE A CHUNK OF 18th CENTURY IRON & STEEL AND MAKE IT MOVE. KARL STIRNER HAS AN UNIQUE METHOD OF FINDING THE 18TH CENTURY IRON AND MOLDING IT LIKE CLAY.

HIS WORK SHOP SPACE DOUBLES AS A GALLERY AND HIS HOME. KARL SCULPTURES ARE MOLDED AFTER SEXUAL IMAGERY INFLUENCED BY PRIMITIVE ART, ANTIQUES, HUMAN FORMS AND HIS HEAVY PIECES RISE OUT OF THE FLOOR WITH GRACE.

KARL STIRNER SCULPTURE ARE NEVER FINISHED. HE DISMANTLES AND ADDS TO EXISTING PIECES-MAKING HIS GALLERY A CONSTANT WORK IN PROGRESS.

COLLECTOR ON YOU WILL FIND HIM AT AUCTIONS AND FLEA MARKETS BARTERING FOR NEW TREASURES. STIRNER HAS BEEN A COLLECTOR SINCE THE AGE OF 4. HIS HOME IS FILLED WITH ETHNOGRAPHIC ART FROM EGYPT, THALIAND, INDIA, AFRICA, CHINA AND SPAIN.
