DesignReasons Press Release:  Numbered Prints of the Flaming Giraffe

Dali was an introspective intellectual who believed that the body and mind were full of secrets. Convinced that psychoanalysis was the only way the suppressed could be revealed, he allowed his art to become his psychiatrist and reveal his extra sensory perception.

A series of sketches Dali produced represented a movie written by Harpo Marx.  It was entitled Giraffes on Horseback Salad, in which the three Marx Brothers were to appear.  Unfortunately, the film was never finished.  However, Dali's creation of "The Flaming Giraffe," a symbol of "war and great struggle."  came to life and his foreshadowing of the fire brought forth by Nazi Germany was realized.

DesignReasons has recently obtained the sculpture called "The Flaming Giraffe," created in China by the Dali Museum, Inc. in 2011 and located in St. Petersberg, Florida.   This sculpture was based on “Diners dans le desert eclaire par les girafes en feu," Dali's creation in 1937.  Five years later, in 1942, we entered our second world war.  It was during this time that Jewish people were thrown into the chambers of destruction.   Realizing the significance of Dali's premonition, Dolores Browne created prints of Dali's foresight reminding us that beauty can be captured during desolation.  The perseverance of the Jewish people and others that have been persecuted are the flames of the heart and soul that will never be defeated.

DesignReasons sells collectors' items, not only of the Flaming Giraffe from the Dali Museum, but  a series of photograph/posters of the Flaming Giraffe.  Before and during this time, Nazi Germany did not tolerate the existence of Jews. This posters are numbered prints of The Flaming Giraffe, a finely beaded 8ft x 5ft giraffe with a red beaded mane that flares to the sky as if fire were burning.  Dolores Browne, designer of this posters, wanted to reveal the beauty within the fire of strength.
